Phase one

My 3 materials are Soft sculpture, Chicken wire, and Plaster.

First thoughts and ideas

I want to explore soft sculpture, I was playing around with burlap and yarn and made somewhat of a rug I want to continue to do this but A larger one with a meaning. I want to make a human rug so it will be the shape of a human and have human colors. I wanted to be like a joke like a animal rug but a human rug. I also wanted to make a cow chart and a human chart and put them next to each other to show there's no difference only in shape. I want to do this by getting fabric and then embroidering or stitching on it to outline  the cow and human and body parts

I also want to make hanging meat out of different fabrics, ropes, etc. I want to hang them out a decorative wall piece. Basically showing how meat is glorified.

With plaster I want to combined it with my chicken wire someway. Either by making little animals out of the plaster or other things in the plaster to then put behind the chicken wire as a cage. I would also like to explore making animal skulls and or bones with the plaster, I think the plaster would be good because it is white and can resemble bone. Maybe even putting the bones inside of one of my chicken wire animals representing what's left.

With chicken wire I want to figure out how to layer it and fold it better. I've been watching a lot of videos on how they form things.

working on being more poetic ....

What is Sculpture?

Are first assignment of the semester was what sculpture is to us, I don't think there is an exact definition of sculpture it's like asking what is art? But for me sculpture is a 3-D object that is visually attractive, or another way to portray a concept in an interesting way and to make the viewer think.

What I made for this was resin filled light bulbs, filled with a lot of goldfish. My original thought process was light bulb represents good ideas, and maybe it would be a good idea for people to stop over fishing, and using sea creatures for our entertainment. It was hard to take a good picture of this piece because it is glass and see thru so there was a glare when I took the picture. So I decided to make a short video with some effects to make the piece more interesting to look at. (I attached the light bulbs with hemp string, but am going to change it to fishing line)
